Handout - Symptoms vs Problems
This handout is used as a supplement in training and workshops and is not meant to be a complete document in and of itself. To those who have not attended our training and/or workshops this handout will appear incomplete, vague, and confusing.
Frequently when people enter counselling/therapy they believe that they have many more problems then they actually have. But not knowing how to separate the symptoms from the problems is a significant problem for the client, and often for the counsellor as well. Symptoms of problems are often easier to identify, then it is to determine what the real problem is. To identify the actual problem takes time, effort, and knowledge.
